About Us

New Hope has a rich history going all the way back to 1921 when it was originally called the Highway Pentecostal Hall. Later the name was changed to First Assembly of God of Sunnyvale and in 1982 the congregation moved to a seven-acre facility in Mountain View and changed the name once again to Southbay Christian Center.

In 2006 we sold our Mountain View property and acquired two new properties located at 521 and 539 E. Weddell Drive in Sunnyvale just off of Fair Oaks Avenue and Hwy 101. Once again we decided to rename and restructure to continue to engage in relevant outreach to our community. The name was changed to New Hope International Church to reflect our desire to be a community that reflects the diversity found in every aspect of the valley.

Currently we are meeting in our newly remodeled building located at 539 E. Weddell Drive while our main facility located two doors down at 521 is under construction. When completed sometime in the Summer of 2008, in addition to having a 4,800 sq. ft. cafe and 480 seat sanctuary, large Children's Ministries and Student Ministries rooms, a library and bookstore, this 34,000 sq. ft. facility will have language translation booths enabling us to translate our services in up to five languages simultaneously in order to better facilitate our blended congregation.

New Hope is a growing church comprised of people from various ages, races, and nationalities. We are affiliated with the Assemblies of God, which has a worldwide fellowship encompassing more than 40 million people.
